Senior Civil Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer – EDF (UK)

About the Role
Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days a week in office. You will play a pivotal role in delivering major Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) projects at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, while supporting our fleet of operating nuclear power stations.
You will be part of the Civil Engineering Branch ensuring technical excellence and safety across every stage of our projects while supporting younger staff members to develop and improve their engineering knowledge and capabilities. You’ll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, from external designers to regulators, and travel to key sites to maintain oversight and drive project success.
Your expertise will help us fulfil our ‘Intelligent Customer’ responsibilities, ensuring our designs and operations meet the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert technical advice and innovative solutions to the nuclear new build projects ensuring they meet rigorous safety and quality standards.
* Manage technical issues to enable the delivery of pragmatic solutions, challenging where appropriate.
* Perform technical review and acceptance of design documentation produced by designers.
* Maintain oversight to ensure safety case requirements are captured in the design and the ‘golden thread’ can be clearly traced.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including interactions with the ONR.

Who You Are
* Holding a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with ideally chartership status.
* Skilled in designing or reviewing reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, working to Eurocodes and other recognised standards.
* Experience providing expert Geotechnical Engineering advice.
* Confident leading integrated technical solutions, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
* Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
