About the apprenticeship
Duties
Duties will include shadowing a fully qualified member of the company to learn the welding skills and methods needed to complete your apprenticeship. You will be tasked with performing metal fabrication and utilising welding methods such as MIG/TIG, all-round fabrication and developing your fitting skills. Structural steel work to be the main duty.
Additional information
Before applying for this position please ensure you are able to travel to and from the place of employment in Ferndale and to the XR Training Centre in Pyle once a week. You will be employed full-time as an Apprentice Fabricator/Welder by this company based in Ferndale. You will be enrolled onto a level 2 apprenticeship in Welding & Fabrication, and undertake the following qualifications:
- NVQ Diploma in Fabrication & Welding Engineering
- Diploma in Engineering Technology
- Essential Skills in Application of Number, Communication and Digital Literacy level 2

Qualifications
No minimum grade requirements * Must be able to travel to Pyle, Bridgend once per month for your mandatory training
* Candidates must be punctual.
* Candidates must be flexible with hours worked.
* Must be able to work with others as a part of a team.
* Must be able to follow instructions and ask for guidance when necessary.
* Candidates should be enthusiastic and committed to both the job and the training.
* Candidates should have a keen eye for detail. - Must be able to read basic measurements.
* Prior welding experience desirable but not essential..
* Must recognise the importance of attending XR Training once a week in order to achieve qualifications in a timely manner.
* Good time management skills.
* Ability to manage workload efficiently.
* You may be required to drive any of the company vehicles as and when requested (i.e. to visit various company sites and client sites) therefore, a valid & clean licence must be held at all times.
