Job Title: National Training & Development Manager
Job Purpose:
The Training and Development Manager is responsible for implementing the Group’s Know Your Skills/Grow Your Skills (KYS/GYS) initiative across the Group. This includes the existing collateral for both internal employees and our Supply Chain, together with the development of learning strategies, the management of training programmes, and the development of employees’ skills and knowledge across the MA Group. Our Learning and Development framework spans our internal staff and external suppliers. Working with the Senior Leadership Team the individual will further develop and manage our training framework; they will develop and manage accredited training initiatives (e.g., City & Guilds) and facilitate modern apprenticeships for the group. Managing and developing relationships with key external training providers, they will support the business units and functions across MA Group to embed a consistent training culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead by example to demonstrate the company’s core values and behaviours, fostering a culture of collaboration and growth.
2. Further develop and implement companies learning and development initiative within the business and with external Supply Chain.
3. Critique and regularly update existing collateral, design and produce training materials, including e-learning initiatives, and introduce blended learning approaches.
4. Oversee training and development programmes to enhance leadership capabilities across all levels and to help line managers develop their team members through career development.
5. Work with dedicated and specialist providers to deliver a programme of training and development in accordance with company learning and development initiative.
6. Champion Apprenticeships and on-the-job training to maximise accrued levies.
7. Develop leadership and succession planning programmes to build future talent from within.
8. Evaluate training effectiveness and impact, reporting solutions to the senior leadership team.
9. Embrace and implement various types of training.
10. Track budgets and build and maintain relationships with third party training providers.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
1. Professional certification, ideally BSc/BA in Business, Psychology or a related field.
2. Full UK Driving Licence.
3. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, results-driven, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
4. Proven experience in a senior L&D role, Training Manager or similar role.
5. Track record of delivering Training and Development initiatives in a similar sized organisation.
6. Strong understanding of all types of learning and development methodology, and familiarity with e-learning platforms.
7. In-depth understanding of Apprenticeship levies and industry grants.
8. Links to vocational skills institutes to gain accreditation of our training programmes and facilities.
9. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and business acumen.
10. Ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.
11. Analytical mindset, capable of interpreting metrics and making data-driven decisions.
12. Proven track record of successfully implementing HR initiatives.
