Description The Service & Team: The Transport Coordination Service (TCS) plans and manages Cornwall Council’s transport arrangements. It markets supports the whole public transport network, manages the concessionary fares scheme for 100,000 Cornish residents; and is responsible for all aspects of the Council’s Home to School, Post 16 and social care transport provision (including travel arrangements over 14,500 children and young people on a daily basis, including over 2,000 students with Special Educational Needs (SEND). In total, the Ser 15 million passenger journeys made annually. The Role: We are looking for someone to help make a real positive impact in the team responsible for the school and post-16 transport arrangements provided through the Council. We’re looking for a proactive, flexible, and communicative individual to join our dynamic Transport Coordination Service. As a Transport Officer (School), you’ll play a vital role in helping to plan, manage and delivery our statutory home to school function. Key responsibilities: • Be able to assess eligibility for statutory home to school travel assistance • To support in the development and management of efficient transport networks across Cornwall • Liaise confidently with the public, stakeholders, and elected members • Learn to use the Council’s transport management and planning software systems • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to find creative, cost-effective solutions • Be part of a busy but highly rewarding team Working Pattern: This role is full time, 37 hours a week. What you'll need to succeed: Knowledge, Skills and Experience: • Strong team ethic excellent communication skills • Comfortable engaging with the public, internal colleagues and Elected Members • Ability to work flexibly and manage competing priorities • Desirable (but not essential) experience in contract management and network planning • Ability to learn and understand statutory requirements around home to school transport and procurement regulations This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.
