We are seeking an Assistant Research Manager for a 3-month contract to join our Application & Funding team at the University of Southampton, The first point of contact for NIHR research funding applicants.
The team is responsible for:
* Scheduling and launching new funding opportunities
* Managing and overseeing peer review of applications
* Scrutinising applications and flagging issues to panels/boards
* Supporting applicants and organising external advisory meetings
* Managing panel membership for shortlisting and funding decisions
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery and improvement of research management processes
* Oversee and delegate administrative tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Provide advice and guidance to applicants and stakeholders
* Organise meetings and coordinate logistics
* Maintain high-quality data on relevant systems
* Contribute to continuous process improvement
Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience managing multiple priorities and working to tight deadlines
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
* Confident in providing advice to stakeholders and applicants
* A-levels/NVQ3 or equivalent experience
Desirable:
* Experience in research administration or funding
* Health background (useful but not essential)
