ROLE: Senior Quantity Surveyor
HOURS: 40 hours a week

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who will support the South Region of Scotland on the Future Defence Infrastructure Services (FDIS) Contract with the Ministry of Defence. The role reports to the Principal Commercial Manager and is accountable for all contractual and commercial issues involved in managing the delivery of the South Area Billable Works programme.
Role Responsibilities
* Maintain governance policies, commercial transparency, and robust commercial practices.
* Prepare subcontractor enquiry documentation, assess commercial tender returns, and coordinate technical appraisals.
* Produce and issue subcontract order documentation.
* Price, negotiate, and agree contract variations with subcontractors and the client.
* Support budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, overhead reviews, and monthly reporting.
* Work collaboratively with Contractors.
* Maintain and forecast subcontractor accounts; measure value and agree variations.
* Build productive relationships with clients, consultants, and end users.
* Maintain high quality project documentation and update as required.
* Conduct audits and inspections of supply chain agreements.
* Provide commercial advice and support to the Operations Team.
* Support the development and mentoring of junior commercial staff.
* Oversee multiple contracts in line with Main Contract procedures and KPIs, including forecasting and budget control.
* Monitor project performance, mitigate risk, and manage potential commercial disputes.
* Work with senior leadership to support wider business growth and development.
* Manage Billable Works ranging from £25,000 to £5,000,000, including new builds, refurbishments, and defence‑specific projects.
* Travel extensively throughout Scotland, including MOD sites across the Central Belt, Southern Scotland, and some sites in the North of England.
* Complete SC security clearance as part of the role.

* Work within the FDIS contract which is in year 4 of a 7‑year agreement to deliver Hard FM services and a significant £70–£80M Billable Works programme.
Required Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally delivering projects of similar complexity and value.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Exceptional organisational, commercial, and administrative abilities.
* High attention to detail with a methodical approach.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Asite or similar platforms is advantageous.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Strong team player with an initiative‑taking, collaborative mindset.
* Professional approach with strong stakeholder management skills.
* Strong contract administration experience.
