Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual, to join the Diabetes & Endocrinology Department at Royal Gwent Hospital. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and administrative skills.

This role is a Back-up Medical Secretary/Administration. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well as part of a team, be flexible to the needs of the service and able to demonstrate a commitment to achieving high quality standards of work. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as you will liaise with staff and patients.


Main duties of the job

* To provide medical, secretarial and administrative service to Consultants and their Teams, including covering duties of the medical secretaries as required.
* Typing of clinics, answering telephone calls, scanning and filing and general admin work & reception cover in the Diabetes Centre.
* Providing support to the Medical Secretaries.
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

* Desirable criteria: Hospital systems


Experience

* Essential: Previous secretarial experience
* Desirable: Medical secretarial experience


Skills

* Essential: Meets all essential criteria as per attached job description/person specification
* Desirable: Admin experience


Qualifications

* Essential: Education & Training
* Desirable: Shorthand AMSPAR Qualification
