Company Overview:
Innovarus Ltd is a UK-based pharmaceutical startup developing advanced long-acting injectable therapies. We focus on creating innovative drug delivery systems to improve treatment outcomes for patients with chronic illnesses and oncological indications. Based at Alderley Park, one of the UK’s leading science parks, we offer a collaborative and scientifically driven environment grounded in quality, innovation, and patient need.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Formulation Scientist to join our R&D team on a part-time basis. This hands-on laboratory role focuses on the design, development, and optimisation of long-acting injectable formulations, including microspheres, in-situ gels, and depot delivery systems.
Working closely with senior scientists, you will conduct formulation experiments, perform analytical testing (such as in vitro drug release and HPLC), and support the generation of regulatory documentation. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge drug delivery research in a flexible and innovation-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities:
🔬 Scientific & Technical
* Develop and optimise long-acting injectable formulations using biodegradable polymers and novel delivery platforms.
* Conduct analytical testing including HPLC, in vitro drug release, and stability studies.
* Assist in method development and validation in accordance with ICH guidelines.
* Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and maintain detailed experimental records.
📝 Documentation & Collaboration
* Support preparation of technical documentation, including method reports, data summaries, and CTD sections.
* Comply with GMP principles, pharmacopoeial standards, and internal SOPs.
* Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
* MSc (or BSc with relevant experience) in Polymer Engineering, Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Chemistry.
* 1–3 years of hands-on experience in formulation development and analytical testing, ideally with injectable or controlled-release systems.
* Proficient in HPLC operation, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
* Familiar with GMP compliance, ICH guidelines, and basic CTD dossier preparation.
Preferred:
* Experience with microsphere formulations, in-situ forming implants, or other long-acting injectable technologies.
* Knowledge of peptide formulations and biodegradable polymers such as PLGA.
* Background in a start-up or early-phase pharmaceutical R&D setting.
What We Offer:
* A flexible, part-time position at an agile pharmaceutical company focused on meaningful innovation.
* The opportunity to work on next-generation injectable therapies with significant patient impact.
* A collaborative, science-driven environment located within Alderley Park, a hub for UK biotech innovation.
* Competitive hourly compensation and support for continuous scientific growth.
