Senior Specialist Nurse Inpatient Pain Service

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Band 7 Nurse to join the Inpatient Pain Service within Ashford and St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with a minimum of three years' experience working at a Band 6 level within the NHS and with previous pain experience.
You will be working in a busy team which supports our inpatient services. The successful candidate must be committed to delivering high quality, individualized care.
The post holder will provide professional and advanced clinical nursing support and advice to the multidisciplinary team. They will provide nursing support and advice to all areas within the Trust, and undertake patient assessment and clinical interventions, including leading and participating in audits.
This post is vital in supporting patients, ensuring their pain needs are met through consultation with medical colleagues and ward nurses. Candidates must be competent within the field of pain management and have an interest in complex pain problems.
The successful candidate will become an integral part of the Inpatient Pain Service who strive to ensure a coordinated and multi-professional approach to diagnosis, treatment, planning and care provision for all patients and their families. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work alone as well as with the multidisciplinary team to deliver the highest standard of care.
Main duties of the job
1. To develop and deliver high standards of specialised care by contributing to the development of practice to ensure that pain patients and carers have a quality experience, and to reduce risk and increase safety for staff and patients.
2. Liaise with Clinical Practice Educators, Ward Managers, Clinical Nurse Leaders and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to develop and support the professional development of staff caring for patients with pain.
3. Liaise with the Lead Nurse Pain Services and Divisional Chief Nurse GS-ACT to contribute to clinical governance within the Trust in pain via best practice development initiatives.
4. Liaise with the Lead Nurse and other members of the team to contribute to practice development and improving the fundamentals of care within the Trust in pain.
5. To be professionally responsible and accountable ensuring care is delivered in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct, the Trusts' vision, strategic objectives and values.
Person Specification
* Experience band 6 managing patients with acute and chronic pain
* Three years working as a band 6 within the NHS
* NMC registration
* Degree or equivalent experience
* NMP or happy to work towards
* Experience in troubleshooting pain pumps
* Creative approach to problem solving
* Respects, values and cares for others
* Evident caring nature
