Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources. We have an opportunity in Exeter for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occassional on-call requirements. The salary for this role will be £57,842 per year, and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits. The closing date for applications is 31st July 2026 . As the Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for all aspects of the mechanical engineering and maintenance at the Energy Recovery Facility, in co-operation with the Electrical and C&I engineers. You will ensure optimal long-term availability of the plant, to preserve the value of the assets and to meet set health and safety, environmental and financial targets. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for efficient planning and execution of maintenance activities associated with the ERF, including the stores and workshops management. What are we looking for? Knowledge of repair methods of mechanical machinery and material, PSSR and compliance and management of WSE. Demonstrable knowledge of contractor management. Experience in working with Permits To Work and Safe System of Work. Experience in supervise teams and contractors to deliver agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Possess the appropriate Engineering qualifications such as HNC / HND (or equivalent).
