Overview:
We are looking for an experienced
Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) SME
to join a secure and high-impact migration project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering a seamless migration from AWS Workspaces to Azure Virtual Desktop for a critical environment, including multisession deployments, infrastructure as code automation, and advanced troubleshooting.
This is a
hands-on
technical role, requiring strong experience in AVD, Terraform, PowerShell, Azure DevOps, and Windows environments in secure environments.
SC Clearance is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and execute migration of AWS Workspaces (Windows Server 2016) to Azure Virtual Desktop.
* Conduct application compatibility testing, UAT, and pilot testing.
* Perform and document issue resolution throughout the migration process.
* Support hypercare and handover to BAU post-migration.
* Manage and maintain the AVD environment (host pools, images, user/app access, FSLogix).
* Design and implement infrastructure automation using Terraform, Azure CLI, PowerShell, and ARM templates.
* Maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitHub repositories.
* Ensure high availability and DR strategies are implemented for AVD components.
* Provide hands-on support and work closely with users, project teams, and support functions.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience with AWS Workspace to AVD migrations
, including secure and sensitive environments.
* SC Clearance
(active).
* Hands-on with Azure DevOps, Terraform, PowerShell, ARM templates, Azure CLI.
* Deep understanding of
AVD architecture
, design best practices, and multi-user environments.
* Experience with
FSLogix
, NetApp (or similar), Group Policy, and user/app configurations.
* Strong grasp of Windows operating system administration and troubleshooting.
* Ability to manage infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines.
* Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Desirable Skills:
* Understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., SCRUM).
* Familiarity with tools like JIRA and ServiceNow.
* Experience cross-skilling or mentoring junior SMEs.
* Strong stakeholder engagement across distributed teams.
