Overview
Do you have the skills and experience to make a difference to the lives of children in care in Plymouth? Are you ready to become part of the management team of an exciting new project?
Plymouth City Council is opening Children’s Homes in Plymouth – small, family-style environments where just 2‑3 children will live, usually between 11 and 18 years of age. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to play a key role in this project, bringing fresh skills and perspectives to assist the Manager in providing highly personalised, high‑quality care to children and young people in a homely environment.
Responsibilities
* Ensure young people are cared for, supported and safe with evidence-based policies and practice.
* Assist in the supervision and guidance of staff, ensuring appropriate care and engaging activities are provided to stimulate and excite children.
* Promote a strengths‑based, trauma‑informed approach to teamwork.
* Actively contribute to a collaborative, values‑led culture and help drive innovation, consistency, quality and the highest standards across services.
* Monitor and audit daily reports; manage shift patterns that include nights, early mornings, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
Qualifications and Development
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (mandatory).
* Ability to work towards a Level 5 Diploma within 2 years of appointment; the Council will pay for and support this training.
* Experience of working with children and young people in similar settings and possessing managerial skills is desirable.
* Experience of leadership and management training is desirable.
* Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Barred list check required.
Additional Information
Shifts include nighttime, early morning, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis due to the nature of full‑time residential care.
