Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Registered Nurse/Awaiting NMC PIN
Desirable criteria
2. Leadership at the Point of Care, or other leadership training
3. Staff Appraisal Training
4. Evidence of further continued professional development
5. Post qualification experience in relevant speciality
6. Hold / be working towards an NMC approved mentoring qualification
Skills, abilities & knowledge
Essential criteria
7. Works to evidence-based practice
8. Awareness of interagency collaboration
9. Computer skills
10. Ability to identify families with complex health needs
11. Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to negotiate
12. Ability to manage and prioritise own caseload with supervision
13. Ability to solve problems and use initiative
14. Ability to develop clinical skills
Desirable criteria
15. Experience of undertaking staff appraisals
16. Participation in Specialist projects
17. Willingness to develop teaching skills
18. Awareness of the NHSE guidance of clinical governance in order to continuously improve quality of care e.g. quality, safety and ward audit standards
19. Knowledge of care planning, preceptorship, reflection and clinical supervision

20. Ability to understand the role of a registered nurse
21. Able to demonstrate clinically effective practice with children and families

23. Awareness of current professional nursing issues
24. Demonstrates understanding of the importance of audit/quality

28. Post registration experience working in an acute hospital setting
