We are looking for a highly skilled Microsoft Purview Specialist to focus on the hands-on delivery and technical configuration of our data protection suite. Working from established requirements, you will be responsible for executing a Proof of Concept (PoC) and rolling out technical controls across the organisation.
A vital part of this role involves acting as a subject matter expert to our internal Compliance Team. You will assist them in moving from manual processes to automated workflows within Microsoft Purview, providing the technical expertise and documentation they need to be successful in their roles.
What the role will look like:
* Technical Implementation & PoC
* Proof of Concept Execution: Build and configure a scoped Proof of Concept environment to test Sensitivity Labels and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies.
* System Configuration: Perform the day-to-day technical setup of Microsoft Purview components, including labelling, encryption, and retention policies.
* Policy Deployment: Transition validated PoC configurations into production, ensuring minimal disruption to business users.
* Technical Documentation
* Configuration Guides: Maintain detailed Technical Configuration Documentation that captures all settings and policies in the environment.
* User Manuals: Create clear "How to" guides for the Compliance Team to ensure they can manage alerts and audits effectively.
* Operational Playbooks: Document standard operating procedures for handling data leaks or classification errors.
* Compliance Support & Training
* Technical Liaison: Act as the dedicated SME for Microsoft Purview, work with stakeholders to assist in transitioning from manual auditing to using Microsoft Purview Compliance Manager.
* Practical Training: Deliver 1:1 or group training sessions via Microsoft Teams to demonstrate internal teams how to use tools like Content Explorer and Activity Explorer.
* Feature Roadmap: Provide briefings on the Purview roadmap, including new features and changes, ensuring internal teams are thinking strategically about how Purview impacts the environment
What you will bring to the role:
* Prior experience working within a Financial Institution or a similarly highly regulated industry (e.g., Healthcare or Legal).
* Previous hands-on experience configuring and managing Microsoft Purview.
* Proven track record of configuring sensitivity labels, DLP policies, and retention policies.
* Ability to provide clear technical support and training to non-technical stakeholders.
* Familiarity with financial services regulations and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, GDPR, SOX, or specific FCA/PRA guidelines is a significant advantage.
* Ideally hold a Certification in SC-400 (Information Protection Administrator) certification or similar.
* A foundational understanding of Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams) and how data flows between these services.
* Ecosystem Integration: Knowledge of how Purview policies interact with M365 apps (e.g., how a label affects a file in a Teams chat).
* Interest or foundational knowledge in Purview Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for AI and securing Microsoft Copilot.
