The Role
The successful candidate will undertake a diverse caseload of criminal matters. The role includes providing representation at the police station and undertaking court work.

Key Responsibilities And Duties
* Providing clear, accurate and timely advice, assistance, and representation to clients across a broad spectrum of criminal matters.
* Managing a busy and fast‑moving caseload while maintaining excellent client care and meeting key deadlines.
* Ensure full compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations, including those set by the Legal Aid Agency and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
* Accurately recording time, progressing matters efficiently, and meeting agreed billing/performance targets.
* Working collaboratively with colleagues across the department, offering support and contributing to a positive team culture.
* Keeping your legal knowledge up to date, participating in supervision, and maintaining relevant accreditations.
Skils & Experience
* A qualified solicitor with experience in criminal law; Duty Solicitor accreditation is desirable but not essential.
* A demonstrable commitment to publicly funded work and to ensuring equitable access to justice for all clients.
* Ability and willingness to undertake police station advice work, including participation in the duty rota once accredited.
* Excellent communication, analytical and advocacy skills.
* Strong organisational capabilities with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a high‑pressure environment.
* A professional and supportive approach to teamwork, combined with the ability to work independently when required.
* A proactive attitude towards compliance, risk management and continuous improvement.
