Atlas NextWave are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 6 month contract based in Dyce, Aberdeen. This will be a full time role, Monday to Friday:
Job Summary:
The Design Engineer (STL) plays a key role in the development of STL products, taking designs from initial concept through to build, test, and delivery.
The Design Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, development, and manufacturing of products, ensuring all technical milestones are met. This includes the preparation and review of manufacturing and end-user documentation such as drawings, specifications, test procedures, and manuals.
The role also involves active participation in project meetings and design reviews, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and effective communication across teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support ongoing design engineering activities across STL projects.
• Review vendor-supplied documentation for compliance with specifications.
• Work to agreed project milestones and timelines.
• Ensure designs comply with company and industry standards.
• Proactively manage workload and priorities to meet project goals.
• Address all aspects of design including engineering, manufacturability, HSE, cost, form, fit, and function.
• Interpret and contribute to technical specifications.
• Design and develop well-engineered products aligned with project requirements.
• Develop and analyse components and assemblies using SolidWorks, FEA, and Mathcad.
• Organise and lead design reviews, presenting findings and recommendations.
• Create and maintain product specification documents.
• Produce and review detailed, assembly, and schematic drawings.
• Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) records.
• Prepare and review component verification documentation.
• Develop and review test procedures and user manuals.
Experience / Background:
• Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Design Engineering.
• Several years of relevant experience in product design and development.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, FEA, and Mathcad.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
