About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker to work with a delightful 14-year-old girl with cerebral palsy in Aberdare. The role is based at the client’s home and involves personal care, therapy programs, and community activities.
This position offers a chance to develop valuable skills, with previous support staff progressing to nursing qualifications.
The client enjoys spending time with family, watching TV, playing with noisy toys, attending school, youth club, and Sunday school. She loves outings, rides, horse-riding, swimming, coloring, drawing, and board games.
Working Hours
Flexible shifts including full-time, part-time, and bank hours, covering the client’s home and community in Aberdare. Up to 144 hours over 4 weeks, including day, waking night, and sleep-in shifts.
Salary/Pay Rates
* £16.00/hour weekdays and waking nights
* £18.00/hour weekends and waking nights
* £12.21/hour for sleep-in shifts (current national living wage)
Shift Patterns
* Term time: Mon-Fri 15:00-21:00; weekends 08:00-20:00
* School holidays: Mon-Sun 08:00/08:30 - 20:00/20:30
* Waking nights: Mon-Sun 20:00/20:30 - 08:00/08:30
* Sleep-in shifts: Mon-Sun 21:00 - 09:00, with 10 hours sleep and 2 hours active duty
Responsibilities
* Provide consistent care following advised approaches and therapy plans
* Support the family and liaise with them as needed
* Work collaboratively with team members
* Follow the documented care plan
* Participate in manual handling and activities to promote development and well-being
* Assist with hygiene and personal care
Requirements
* Desirable: Registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register within 6 months)
* Desirable: Health and Social Care qualification (QCF Level 2 or above)
* Experience with children with learning, physical, or communication difficulties is a plus but not essential
* Full driving license is desirable; shifts are on a 2:1 basis, vehicle provided by the client
* IT skills are desirable
This position requires a fully enhanced DBS disclosure and registration with the DBS Update Service.
