Overview
Are you an experienced Children's Nurse looking for a new challenge? We are looking to recruit to our Childrens Community Nursing service where you will join an established supportive team here in Cornwall. Due to service expansion and move to a 7-day working pattern, we are excited to be in a position to have 2 x Band 6 Children's Community Nurse vacancies available. This is a permanent contract for 37.5 hours, currently divided over 4 days per week. We will consider part-time working which can be discussed at interview. Weekend and bank holiday working and on-call for End of Life care are required.
Main duties of the job
You will have current experience in looking after acutely unwell children. You must be highly motivated and possess excellent acute clinical assessment skills and are able to communicate and organise effectively. You must be experienced in working under pressure and have the ability to work independently. You will hold your own caseload, plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate care, and contribute to reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and length of stay by facilitating early and safe discharge from the acute trust, as well as supporting children and young people with long-term or palliative conditions.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
* Current professional registration NMC
* Professional qualification RN Child / RSCN
* Diploma level specialist training or equivalent relevant experience
Experience
* Experience of applying specialist knowledge and advanced clinical skills when working with children and young people with complex health needs (e.g., IV, subcutaneous/IM medication, central line care, enteral feeding devices, tracheostomy care, technical medical equipment)
* Caseload management
* Experience of supervising/teaching others and delivering training
* Good knowledge of children's community nursing issues
* Post-registration experience with children who have learning disabilities, complex health needs, palliative diagnosis or acute/long-term nursing requirements
Desirable criteria
* Teaching or mentoring qualification
* Non-medical prescriber
* Previous experience in a community setting
* Experience in end-of-life care
Skills and Aptitude
* Competent IT skills
Knowledge and abilities
* Ability to coordinate and apply best practice in complex and challenging situations
* Working knowledge of CQC standards in respect of care delivery
