The role
As a Business Improvement Manager, you will have a role that's out of the ordinary. Based in a nuclear submarine facility, you will have the opportunity to lead transformative improvements across the business in the years ahead.
Day-to-day, you'll lead and support Business Improvement Specialists within operations by coaching and enabling teams to identify, scope, plan, and deliver improvement projects. Additionally, you will:
1. Manage and support stakeholders related to their project activities.
2. Deliver projects through the project lifecycle eg. Concept, Definition, Deployment and Transition.
3. Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
4. Proactively monitor progress, including recording, resolving, and escalating associated issues and risks.
5. Plan and design the transformation/ business improvement activities aligned to a governance framework.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Business Improvement Manager
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
7. Proficiency in Project Management and Risk Management techniques (e.g. APM)
8. Experience using project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Project Web App)
9. Solid conceptual and hands-on knowledge of business improvement processes
10. Familiarity with Process Improvement techniques (e.g. Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement)
Qualifications for the Business Improvement Manager
11. Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent - or extensive relevant experience
12. APM Project Management Qualification or demonstrable project experience
13. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred (not essential)
14. ILM Level 3 or equivalent qualification - or proven leadership experience
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
