Customs Process Administrator (JL2) Working Pattern: Thursday – Monday We are looking for a detail‑oriented Customs Process Administrator to join our Customs Operations team. This role is responsible for supporting the accurate execution of customs activities in line with UK legislative requirements, ensuring the compliant movement of goods across international borders. This position sits within our Administrative and Operations Support stream, where colleagues perform skilled technical and administrative tasks to support seamless customs processes. Individuals at this level work independently within established standards and procedures, with the ability to resolve routine issues and escalate more complex matters when needed. Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate UK import and export declarations through the Customs Declaration Service (CDS). Ensure full compliance with UK customs legislation, including post‑Brexit requirements. Liaise with HMRC, port authorities, freight forwarders, and clients to resolve customs‑related queries. Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with HMRC audit standards. Monitor ETAs, check data accuracy, identify errors, and investigate discrepancies. Support day‑to‑day customs operations and ensure all entries are processed correctly and on time. Essential Requirements Proven experience in UK import/export customs clearance. Strong working knowledge of CDS and the UK Trade Tariff. Solid understanding of Incoterms and international trade documentation. Familiarity with UK VAT rules relating to imports and exports. Excellent attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry and documentation. Proficiency with customs software systems and strong overall IT skills. Ability to prioritise, manage multiple shipments, and meet time‑critical deadlines. Desirable Knowledge of IPAFFS / IUU procedures. Experience working with freight forwarders, logistics providers, or in‑house customs teams. Understanding of controlled goods (e.g., excise, dual‑use goods). Experience with CFSP processes.
