We are looking for a Shift Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join our team in Cramlington. Within this role, you will be responsible for executing on-site maintenance tasks, including E&I repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installations, and commissioning.
You will conduct hazardous area inspections and repairs, ensuring all equipment complies with statutory requirements and maintained standards. Due to the role operating on a shift pattern to support our 24/7 production, you will be required to work independently, without the need for technical supervision, and manage permit to work processes. You will undertake multi-skilled tasks in line with operational agreements.
This role operates on a 12-hour shift pattern, consisting of days and nights.
Your responsibilities
1. Carrying out electrical and instrument repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installation, and commissioning.
2. Conducting hazardous area inspections and repairs, ensuring all hazardous area equipment complies with statutory requirements and British Standards.
3. Maintaining Safety Instrumented Systems.
4. Performing high voltage switching operations.
5. Problem solving and diagnostic checks on electrical and instrument systems, recommending improvements.
6. Managing high, medium, and low voltage installations and general electrical systems.

8. Holding relevant craft qualifications in one of the core disciplines is essential.
9. Having a COMPex certificate is desirable.
10. Previous experience within the chemical industry is preferred.
11. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
12. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
13. Ability to respond appropriately with the necessary urgency.
14. Experience in identifying and eliminating root causes is preferred.
