We're building something new. On 1 July 2025, AgResearch, Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research, Plant & Food Research and Scion came together to form the Bioeconomy Science Institute. Now, we are more than 2200 people working to support the growth and resilience of the bioeconomy in New Zealand and beyond.

Together, our world-class science can do more to advance innovation in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, aquaculture, biotechnology and manufacturing; protect and enhance ecosystems from biosecurity threats and climate risks; and develop new bio-based technologies and products.

This position sits under the current Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research (MWLR) group of the Bioeconomy Science Institute.

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the effective management and maintenance of our site facilities and infrastructure at our Lincoln campus. This is a pivotal role focused on ensuring that our buildings, plant, grounds and essential services operate safely, efficiently and in alignment with site operations plans, regulatory requirements and best-practice standards.

You will work closely with the Site Operations Manager, Facilities Manager, contractors, internal stakeholders and specialist service providers to support a high-functioning, safe and compliant operational environment.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Lincoln site.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong mix of technical capability, leadership, and relationship‑building skills. You will be someone who takes pride in the smooth running of facilities, ensures people are safe, and delivers high‑quality service to the organisation.

You Will Ideally Demonstrate

A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Facilities Management or similar building/infrastructure operations role.
Proven capability in on‑site Health & Safety leadership, including contractor management, hazard identification, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
A strong working knowledge of technical maintenance requirements, building services, plant, and infrastructure operations.
A solid understanding of New Zealand legal, compliance and regulatory frameworks related to facilities, property, and workplace safety.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with experience coordinating, guiding or leading others.
A practical, solutions focused mindset with the ability to balance operational needs, risks, budgets, and long-term site sustainability.‑focused mindset with the ability to balance operational needs, risks, budgets, and long‑term site sustainability.
A customer service orientation, ensuring stakeholders receive timely support, clear communication, and a positive experience when engaging with facilities services.
