Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (Special Needs School) Location: Just outside of Burgess Hill Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday Pay: £102.68 per day Contract: Compassionate leave cover until Christmas (potential to extend for the right candidate) About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming special needs school. This is a rewarding opportunity to support secondary-aged students with autism, helping them to access learning, develop life skills, and thrive in a supportive environment. The role is initially to cover compassionate leave until Christmas, with the possibility of extension for the right person who demonstrates commitment, flexibility, and genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with autism and other additional needs. Work under the guidance of class teachers to adapt learning activities to suit individual needs. Assist with the development of communication, social, and independence skills. Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management in line with school policies. Encourage and promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment. Build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families. What We’re Looking For Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a SEN or autism-specific setting.
