The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely alongside the Manager and Room Leader to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery. You will take on leadership responsibilities, inspire the team, and step in confidently when the Manager is away. This is a hands-on role, combining leadership, organisation, and direct interaction with children, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Teamwork
* Work closely with the Manager and Room Leader to support and motivate the team.
* Lead by example as a role model – demonstrating best practice in care, teaching, and staff relationships.
* Provide guidance and support to staff, particularly in handling SEND needs, safeguarding, and child development.
* Safeguarding & Compliance
* Act as a designated safeguarding lead in the absence of the Manager.
* Ensure all safeguarding, health & safety, and EYFS statutory requirements are fully implemented.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, and Ofsted standards.
* SEND & Inclusion
* Champion inclusive practice, supporting children with SEND and ensuring staff feel confident in meeting diverse needs.
* Work alongside outside professionals and parents to develop effective SEND support plans.
* Parental Engagement
* Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers.
* Ensure parents feel welcomed, listened to, and kept fully informed of their child's progress.
* Creativity & Learning Environment
* Design and deliver engaging, inspiring activities that motivate children and staff.
* Oversee daily room setup in our packaway setting to ensure the environment is always inviting, stimulating, and safe.
* Operational Duties
* Assist in staff rotas, cover absences when required, and ensure ratios are maintained.
* Contribute ideas for team development, staff training, and morale-building initiatives.
* Support with administration, record-keeping, and monitoring of staff and children's progress.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
* Qualified: Minimum Level 3 in Early Years/Childcare with at least 5 years' experience in an early years setting (as a Room Leader or Deputy).
* Skilled & Knowledgeable: Strong understanding of EYFS, safeguarding, SEND, and inclusion.
* Inspiring: Creative, energetic, and motivational – a role model who uplifts staff and inspires children every day.
* Personable: Humble, bubbly, with a good sense of humour and a genuine love for children, families, and colleagues.
* Professional & Organised: Reliable, punctual, and able to manage responsibilities with maturity and commitment.
* Practical: Holds an enhanced DBS (on the update service), Paediatric First Aid, safeguarding training, and excellent attendance.
* Flexible: Car driver preferred, able to travel, cover absences, and adapt to the changing needs of a busy packaway nursery.
