Job Description

Are you an inspirational and collaborative leader? Are you keen to use your leadership skills to protect the organisation and our staff?

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we’re effectively addressing security risks and fostering a positive security culture. In this role, you will:

1. Assist the Corporate Security Manager in overseeing and mitigating security risks

5. Partner with Defra group Security to develop security strategies, policies, and processes
6. Lead initiatives to improve security culture through training, communications, and engagement
7. Facilitate governance meetings to oversee security decisions
8. Maintain professional networks to stay informed on security developments

The team manages diverse activities, and you will have opportunities to gain broad experience across key areas.

We are committed to an inclusive workforce reflecting the communities we serve. Flexible working arrangements, including job sharing, are encouraged. Please specify your preferred working pattern in your application.

The team:

Experience/Skills Required

The external security environment is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, you should have:

1. An understanding of broader influences on organisational security to enable continuous improvement
2. Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, foster partnerships, influence, and inspire
3. Ability to build effective relationships with Defra and Environment Agency colleagues to jointly manage risks
4. Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities and demands
5. Experience in culture change, stakeholder engagement, communications, and implementing business change (beneficial but not essential)

Additional Information:

All new hires must undertake training and may participate in incident response duties. Details are in your candidate pack.

This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your local office in England with the option to work from home, and some travel may be required.

There will be an informal session on Wednesday, 21st May, 12:30-13:30. Contact Emma Young at emma.young@environment-agency.gov.uk for details or to receive a transcript.
