Position: Senior Quality Engineer
Location: Tritech Group UK – Wrexham Sites - and occasional travel to other UK sites when required
Hours of Work: 8:00 – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00 to 1:30pm Friday
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance activities across our Foundry and Machine Shop operations. This critical role will oversee compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards (AS9100, NADCAP), and internal Quality Management Systems. You will be responsible for implementing quality strategies, driving continuous improvement, and mentoring the quality team.
The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on approach, technical knowledge in aerospace component manufacture, and a passion for ensuring the highest levels of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and support the Quality Management System to ensure full compliance with all customer, regulatory, and contractual standards.
2. Act as quality lead for both Foundry and Machine Shop departments, ensuring robust quality practices and standards.
3. Conduct and oversee First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
4. Manage and support internal and external audits, including NADCAP special process audits.
5. Liaise directly with customers and suppliers to resolve quality concerns, support root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
6. Lead non-conformance investigations, ensuring timely closure and preventive measures.
7. Drive quality improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing efforts across departments.
8. Mentor and develop junior quality team members and technicians.
9. Maintain calibration records and ensure all inspection tools are compliant and fit for use.
10. Ensure quality documentation, including inspection plans and reports, is accurately maintained.
11. Attend production meetings and act as the voice of quality in cross-functional collaboration.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Proven experience in a senior or lead quality engineering role, ideally within aerospace or precision manufacturing.
* Strong background in mechanical or metallurgical engineering, preferably with exposure to casting and machining processes.
* Fully conversant with AS9100, AS9102, and general aerospace quality standards.
* Experience of NADCAP and customer audits.
* Hands-on problem-solving ability with structured root cause and corrective action experience.
* Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
* Highly organised, able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and support junior team members.
Desirable:
* Internal or Lead Auditor qualification for AS9100.
* Knowledge of materials testing, non-destructive testing (NDT), and metallurgical processes.
* Experience with MRP/ERP systems in a manufacturing setting.
Qualifications
* Engineering, Mechanical, or Metallurgy-based degree (HND/HNC also considered with experience).
* Auditor qualified to AS9100 or equivalent (preferred).
* Evidence of continuous professional development in quality management and aerospace standards.
Package on Offer
* Salary: Negotiable DOE - £43,000+ per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
* Pension: 5% employee contribution / 3% employer contribution
* Annual Leave: 25 days + 8 Bank Holidays
