Location: Specialist School, Dibden Contract: Long-Term Temporary Hours: Full-Time (term-time only) Start Date: ASAP
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive Specialist School, providing tailored support to pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
* Assist in the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans.
* Foster a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.
* Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to promote pupil wellbeing.
* Use de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed approaches to manage behaviour effectively.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, autism, or other complex needs.
* Calm, empathetic and patient with a strong understanding of emotional regulation.
* Able to build trusting relationships and encourage positive behaviour.
* Team player with excellent communication and adaptability.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach, etc.) are desirable but not essential.
