Job overview

Exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical educator post has arisen within Acute and Emergency Medicine to work as a clinical educator and also as an opportunity for professional and personal development.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good motivational leadership skills and have experience in supporting and facilitating learning within a clinical environment. They must be a positive role model contributing and maintaining the quality standards and governance agenda within AEMP. Applicants should have a great interest in change management, self-motivated, dynamic and forward thinking. Can use excel spread sheet and possess IT skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holders responsibilities consist of a range of core teaching duties which include but not limited to:

1. Planning, delivery and development of teaching sessions at Study Days
2. Skills based practical sessions
3. Clinical skills teaching for staff members
4. To assess feedback and respond to incidents by supporting to formulating real-time learning opportunities.
5. Have a great interest in high fidelity simulation and feedback.
6. Attend senior meetings, Matrons and governance meeting and take forward elements of Clinical learning environment strategy supporting processes and transformation in line with the education plan across the directorate.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

7. NMC registered
8. To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
9. Relevant degree or evidence of study at degree level

Desirable criteria

10. Leadership course
11. Training and assessing in the work place
12. Possess or be prepared to work towards a post graduate qualification in education

Experience

Essential criteria

13. Extensive post registration experience in an acute and emergency medicine
14. Experience working on AMU/ED
15. Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
16. Evidence of high-level commitment to professional development. Training and education
17. Experience of delivering teaching sessions and presentations
18. Evidence of supporting newly qualified nurses

Desirable criteria

19. Clinical skills competencies i.e. venepuncture, cannulation
20. Master trainer for clinical skills
21. Moving and handling key trainer
22. Advanced Life Support provider
23. Delivery of clinical simulation and debriefing

Personal Qualities

Essential criteria

24. IT literate knowledge of Electronic Patient record and any system used in providing care and services
25. Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to- one basis and with groups
26. Excellent interpersonal skills
27. Ability to manage complex workload under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines
28. Persuasion and influencing skills
29. Presentation skills
