Our client, Dorset Council is seeking an ACCOMMODATION OFFICER (ADMIN) to join them on a temporary basis. The contract is until 13th May but they often get extended or you can apply for permanent roles once in place. The successful candidate will carry out property inspections, inventories, tenancy agreements and responsible for registering deposits. You will require own transport and expense will be paid. This role also requires the candidate to hold a DBS.
1. To manage the physical condition of the directly managed temporary accommodation so that it is in a permanent lettable state, conduct inspections, book repairs, maintenance, organise redecoration, and ensure any communal areas are clean and safe.
2. To control the council’s financial liability through the local housing debt management process, pursue accommodation charges, monitor HB payments and work closely with housing finance team.
3. To work with and support leaseholder landlords who provide accommodation for homeless households to ensure the fabric of the building meets with the lease agreements.
4. To obtain and monitor all mandatory safety certificates from those landlords, including Dorset Council, who provide emergency accommodation for homeless households.
CV required, showing the following:
5. Previous experience within a lettings or social housing environment.
6. Proven experience of being able to work effectively with minimal supervision
7. Proven experience of working within a confidential environment
8. Proven knowledge and experience of effectively dealing with a wide range of housing tenancy issues in the social housing sector, and/or in the private rented sector.
9. Up to date knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits and housing benefits and universal credit
Must hold:
10. Passport or Birth certificate with National Insurance Number proof
11. Own transport with business insurance
12. An Enhanced DBS
