Constella Music is recruiting an experienced Stage Manager for their upcoming opera-ballet The Lost Music of Auschwitz at Bloomsbury Theatre, London.
Constella is undertaking a major project to restore and perform long-forgotten music written in Auschwitz, including the Sky Arts documentary The Lost Music of Auschwitz, which has been praised by the press, such as the Financial Times, calling it "profoundly moving".
Working Commitment
One additional day of preparation for meetings and risk assessments.
The performances are scheduled from 03 - 07 June at Bloomsbury Theatre, London.
Applicants must be available for the entire period; partial availability cannot be considered.
Remuneration
Inclusive fee of £1,133 for 9 full days of work.
Job Requirements
* Proven experience as a Stage Manager, leading rehearsals, technical periods, and performances, ideally with instrumentalists, singers, dancers, and technical teams.
* Ability to read musical scores.
* Experience in writing risk assessments, rehearsal notes, and show reports.
* Experience calling shows.
* Practical, focused, and organized with excellent attention to detail.
* Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Google Drive.
* Strong interpersonal skills to manage and lead teams of up to 25 creative professionals.
* Solution-oriented and able to work under pressure.
* Excellent communication and listening skills.
* Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Job Responsibilities
* Coordinate with the Freelance Producer to schedule technical periods.
* Lead rehearsals, technical runs, and performances, ensuring smooth operations and high standards.
* Prepare and share detailed rehearsal notes and show reports.
* Determine set, costume, and prop requirements in advance.
* Provide pastoral care in collaboration with the Freelance Producer.
* Manage stage during rehearsals and performances, including calling cues and handling emergencies.
* Prepare necessary risk assessments for the venue.
* Ensure health and safety protocols are followed.
* Maintain props and set as needed.
* Represent the company professionally, safeguarding confidential information.
