Deputy Payroll Manager
Salary: 37,000 - 40,000 (DOE)
Location: Middlesbrough Hybrid after probation period
Hours: 36.25 hours, Monday-Friday
We're recruiting two Deputy Payroll Managers to join a well-established payroll function supporting a complex client portfolio. This is a hands‑on role combining payroll delivery with people management and service oversight.
The role:
* Support the Payroll Manager with day‑to‑day payroll operations and team leadership
* Oversee service delivery, accuracy and SLA performance
* Manage, coach and develop payroll teamிமுகoilats
* Act as a deputy point of contact for escalations and workflow management
* Contribute to process improvements and ongoing projects
About you:
* Proven payroll experience (pensions experience beneficial but not essential)
* Previous deputy, supervisory or team‑lead experience
* Strong attention to detail and confidence managing workloads and deadlines
* Comfortable working with systems and Excel
* Able to attend the office full‑time for the first 6 months for training (hybrid thereafter, potentially sooner depending on progress)
