Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Procurement to lead the procurement function in Scunthorpe. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in procurement management, particularly with expertise in low-cost country sourcing. This role will involve overseeing all procurement activities, developing strategic sourcing strategies, and managing supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with business objectives and focus on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier performance.
- Lead and manage the procurement team, providing direction, support, and development opportunities to ensure high performance.
- Identify and establish relationships with suppliers in low-cost countries to drive competitive advantage and cost savings.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier performance to make informed procurement decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and supply chain, to align procurement strategies with overall business goals.
- Implement best practices in procurement processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, ensuring continuity of supply and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, performance, and cost savings to senior management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CIPS) is preferred.
- Extensive experience in procurement, with a strong focus on low-cost country sourcing.
- Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing procurement teams.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools.
