NEP UK is currently recruiting for Equipment Preparation Technicians on a 12-month fixed-term contract. We have 2 roles available.
The role of Prep Technician at NEP UK offers an exciting opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in broadcast technology by preparing technical equipment and systems for high-profile outside broadcasts (OB). You will gain hands-on experience in key technical areas such as Sound, Vision & Broadcast, and Cameras, and will spend time across all operational and technical support departments, including Base Operations, Technical Stores & Maintenance, Fibre Maintenance, and RF Technology, to gain a comprehensive understanding of NEP's services.
This role is suitable for ambitious individuals passionate about broadcast and media technology, aiming to build a career as a broadcast technician. Successful candidates with aptitude and enthusiasm can progress into Technical Operator and engineering roles within NEP UK and the wider NEP Group.
Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Base Operations team to perform tier 1 preparation, installation, and testing of broadcast equipment before deployment to OBs. Ensure kits are complete, functional, properly packaged for transport, and correctly integrated into OB Trucks and Fly-packs where applicable.
2. Scan and register broadcast equipment leaving and returning to the base. Check, test, and clean equipment and kits. Report and initiate remedial actions for any faults or cosmetic issues.
3. Ensure equipment is returned from site complete and undamaged before 'off-hiring'.
4. Accurately report faulty equipment on site via OB reports and fault tickets. Facilitate repairs or seek support from Engineering or Technical Maintenance as needed.
5. Assist Camera Guarantees and Engineers in preparing and configuring OB facilities, equipment, and systems.
6. Normalise OB trucks and facilities upon return to base by removing excess equipment and cabling, restoring areas to tidy condition, and restocking spares and consumables.
7. Coordinate with Stores Supervisors to organize workspaces, including prep areas, demo spaces, operational areas, and equipment storage, maintaining appropriate stock levels.
8. Work with Equipment Resourcing, Engineering, and Stores Supervisors to prepare equipment loads for deployment based on load lists and the in-house stock system.
