A highly successful Scottish logistics organisation, based near Glasgow, is looking for a Graduate Systems Analyst. We have worked with this company for several years and have helped a number of their IT team join and heard great things first hand.
The role is a graduate position, so ideally you have recently finished up at university in an IT related degree and achieved a 2:1 or better. Candidates with some relevant commercial experience will also be considered, as the company is committed to learning and development and will help you get up to speed and upskill into more senior roles.
Day‑to‑day you will be part of the support team, carrying out 2nd line tasks to support internal and external stakeholders. You will need to manage tickets, resolve issues and, when necessary, escalate them to senior staff.
You will work closely with applications and tools, helping to identify, develop and test logistics systems. The role offers exposure to IT operations and a range of IT business practices.
They are looking for someone willing to commit to upskilling their technical skills and transferring knowledge from university into real world IT work. Training is provided, but an attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
The role is fully onsite at the outskirts of Glasgow, with parking available. Expect to be in the office five days per week. In return, a starting salary of £27k and a benefits package are offered.
Responsibilities
* 2nd Line Support for Logistics Systems.
* Learn about company business and technical applications and tools.
* Liaise with stakeholders to gather requirements for change.
* Develop and maintain Unix Shell Scripts.
* Integrate internal and external systems.
* Produce logistics systems reports for stakeholders and document system changes in adherence to company standards.
Requirements
* IT graduate to a 2:1 level or better.
* Understanding of databases (Oracle or SQL).
* Knowledge of Unix/Linux with some shell scripting experience.
* Knowledge of logistics systems, ideally with some systems analysis and application support experience.
* Knowledge of report writing tools like iReports or Jaspersoft Studio.
* Excellent communication skills and previous experience in a customer‑facing technical service desk environment.
* Full UK driver’s licence (occasional visits to other sites) – essential.
