Change a child's life story and become a Schoolreaders volunteer!
The role
Schoolreaders is a national literacy charity in England. We find and match volunteers with local primary schools to support children in improving their reading.
Volunteers visit their matched school once a week for a minimum of one hour during the school day, working individually with children. Volunteers need to be able to commit to at least one year of volunteering, but holidays can be taken. Volunteers must be over 18 and have a good level of written and spoken English.
Need to know
DBS and safeguarding checks will be carried out by schools at no cost to the volunteer prior to starting.
The aim is to improve literacy across the nation by creating a network of volunteers who listen to children read in their local primary schools.
