Senior Marine Systems Engineer
Expleo Group seeks an experienced Marine Systems Engineer to expand our Marine Design / Naval Architecture capability. The role involves concept vessel design, complex engineering design, tool development and decarbonisation solutions across global maritime programmes.
Responsibilities
* Apply and develop engineering skills in Naval Architecture and related disciplines.
* Integrate 3D models and 2D drawings, perform detailed checks and implement modifications for design accuracy.
* Manage model and drawing release, maintain version control in PLM systems, develop routing schemes for mechanical and fluid systems.
* Conduct engineering checks to validate system integrity and regulatory compliance.
* Produce integration and part‑level manufacturing drawings to support assembly and production.
* Source and specify standard mechanical components such as pipe fittings.
* Investigate regulatory technical issues and develop practical solutions.
* Deliver high‑quality solutions to customers and clients.
* Investigate and solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed design phases.
* Develop and maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards and guidelines.
* Assist with quality standard maintenance for engineering, design and production information.
* Interface directly with customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions.
Qualifications
* Degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering or equivalent naval and commercial ship design experience.
* Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
* Incorporated or Chartered Engineer recognised by the UK Engineering Council or ability to achieve within 12 months.
Essential Skills
* Carbon composites, tooling, class and regulations understanding, weight and cost optimisation.
* Life‑saving equipment and regulations, fire systems, 3D modelling of components, 2D drafting of production drawings.
* Support integration of components and parts from third parties into PLM system.
* Support technical and manufacturing teams with system integration modelling.
* Collaborate with manufacturing and vessel departments and support.
* Ready to grow and develop technical & behavioural competence at the cutting edge of discipline.
* Drive to work collaboratively with curiosity and continuous improvement approach.
Desired Skills
* Marine design, classification society rules, 3D modelling in 3DX (Dassault), 2D drafting in 3DX.
Experience
* Minimum 4 years post‑graduate experience (8 years for non‑degree qualified) in commercial or naval maritime domain.
* Marine design and ship design experience.
* Experience using Naval Architecture design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MaxSurf, NAPA, Aveva, Paramarine, Orcaflex, MATLAB, MS Excel).
* Experience working in multi‑company and engineering discipline teams, communicating effectively.
* Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading and/or supporting multiple engineering projects & customers.
