Senior Child Safety Practitioner/ Senior Child Safety Officer Division: Child Protection and Family Support Position No: Pool Ref COM29425 Salary: CSQL2, $113,000 - $125,000/CSUL3, $107,000 - $116,000 pa + Super - (DOC) CPCSA 2024 Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time, Permanent - Full Time Location: West Kimberley (Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing) Closing Date: 2025-09-04 4:00 PM (YYYY-MM-DD)

The Opportunity


As a Team Leader Child Safety, you will work in the areas of child protection, children in care and family support and you will be responsible for:

1. managing a District team and responding to concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children in applying the provisions of the Children and Community Services Act 2004,
2. supervising team members in child protection case work matters and where necessary, oversees Case Workers in taking intervention action to promote the safety and wellbeing of children,
3. supervising team members in providing case work services to identified families and children in the care of the CEO, convening and chairing planning forums for children in the care of the CEO,
4. undertaking complex case work activities with the team as required,
5. managing team resources, assigning tasks and ensures equitable distribution of workload within the team,
6. reporting to the District Director on the activities of the team,
7. quality assuring the electronic reporting requirements of case workers in the team.
8. Contributing to the planning and management of District activities under the direction of the District Director,
9. supervising and supporting team members and liaising with other team leaders and District/Departmental staff to ensure sound practice standards are maintained,
10. ensuring the learning and development requirements of the team are maintained.

There are currently 2 fixed term positions available for immediate filling for a period of 12 months.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies fixed term or permanent that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.

Qualification Requirements

You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant human services area to be eligible for this position. All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency.
