Role overview
As a Mechanical Senior Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of our aircraft maintenance operations, leading a skilled team to ensure the safety, airworthiness, and readiness of critical defence assets. This is a hands-on leadership role where your technical expertise and ability to guide others will directly support the UK’s air capability and make a meaningful impact on national security.
The role
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
* Leading and supervising maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and components.
* Ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with airworthiness standards.
* Supporting flying operations during peak periods and assisting with turnaround maintenance.
* Providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced technicians.
* Maintaining compliance with technical documentation and organisational procedures.
You’ll be based at RAF Valley, working 37.5 hours per week on a Monday to Friday shift pattern (0600–1300). This is an onsite role, with occasional voluntary recovery travel.
Essential experience
* Experience at supervisor level with full trade authorities.
* Aircraft platform training and fault diagnosis experience.
* Familiarity with Quality and Air Safety Management Systems.
* Proven ability to lead and support a dynamic technical team.
Qualifications
* City & Guilds 2675 or NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering.
* Aviation Engineering Apprenticeship.
Security clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
