Key Responsibilities
* Preparing statutory accounts in line with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and Companies House requirements
* Producing year-end accounts and financial statements
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Handling corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns
* Managing client bookkeeping (often using software like Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage)
* Liaising directly with clients to gather financial information and provide advice
* Supporting audits (if working in an audit-enabled firm)
* Advising clients on tax efficiency and financial planning
* Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards (e.g. FRS 102 / FRS 105)
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in a UK accountancy practice (typically 2–5+ years depending on level)
* Strong knowledge of UK tax rules and financial reporting standards
* Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
* Good communication skills for client interaction
* High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
