About the Role
As a Housing Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality housing management services to residents. You will support individuals from tenancy sign-up through to sustainment and move-on, ensuring they have access to safe, secure, and suitable accommodation.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will help residents maintain their tenancies, access relevant support services, and achieve positive outcomes. You will also contribute to performance targets, including tenant satisfaction and service quality measures, while ensuring properties remain compliant with all relevant legislation and standards.
Key Duties
1. Manage the end-to-end tenancy process, including sign-ups, move-ins, sustainment, and move-on support
2. Support residents with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims
3. Provide advice and guidance on rent arrears, budgeting, and tenancy responsibilities
4. Respond to anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches, and safeguarding concerns appropriately
5. Carry out regular property inspections, ensuring safety, compliance, and maintenance issues are addressed
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using internal systems
7. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to support residents’ wider needs
8. Support residents in accessing services such as mental health, recovery, employment, and education
9. Facilitate resident engagement, including meetings and participation in housing-related matters
10. Contribute to achieving performance targets, including tenant satisfaction measures
About You
11. Experience working with individuals facing challenges such as homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or offending behaviour
12. Strong understanding of housing management, tenancy sustainment, and relevant housing legislation
13. Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
14. Confident in handling sensitive situations, including conflict resolution and safeguarding concerns
15. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
16. Competent in using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
17. A proactive and compassionate approach, with a commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals
18. Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing processes is highly desirable
19. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
