MULTI-SKILLED ENGINEER Location: Hamilton Shift Pattern: Night Shift - 4 on / 4 off, 7pm to 7am Salary: Up to £52,000 THE ROLE MRD Recruitment is working with a leading manufacturing business to appoint a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their night shift engineering team based in Hamilton. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide range of production equipment within a fast-paced FMCG environment. You will play a key part in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across site. You will work both autonomously and as part of the engineering team, delivering planned maintenance and responding to reactive breakdowns in a timely and effective manner. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to high standards Respond to breakdowns and emergency maintenance across production equipment Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime Identify and support root cause analysis for equipment failures Record all maintenance activity, downtime, and parts usage on CMMS Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and GMP standards at all times Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas to a high standard Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across site Contribute to engineering projects and process improvement activities Communicate downtime issues and corrective actions to shift management Support and develop production operators in basic asset care ABOUT YOU Essential Apprentice trained and qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical bias) Previous experience in an FMCG or fast-paced production environment Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently on shift PC literate with experience using maintenance systems or CMMS Desirable Experience in food or drinks manufacturing Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement environments Experience using CMMS systems Strong understanding of planned maintenance systems KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Quality standards Effective and timely completion of maintenance tasks Accurate CMMS data recording and system usage Reduction of unplanned downtime and maintenance costs Contribution to continuous improvement activities
