Band 7 CAMHS Clinical Psychologist - Bristol

We have an opportunity to join our experienced and established multidisciplinary Community CAMHS Team on a 12 month maternity cover basis as one of our Clinical Psychologists.

You will have be qualified and registered as a Clinical Psychologist. You will also have experience of working with children and young people, preferably within a community CAMHS service.

Main duties of the job

The key elements of the role include, but are not limited to:

Completing assessments of young people with complex emotional and mental health needs;

Completing 1:1 interventions for a variety of clinical presentations, drawing on techniques including: CBT-informed work, DBT-informed work, systemic work and creative therapies;

Care and safety planning, in partnership with young people, families and carers, and other professionals;

Multi-professional and multi-agency working, including close working with social care, schools, primary care and acute hospital trusts;

Proactively safeguarding young people who may be experiencing abuse or who are at risk of abuse;

Utilising your own clinical supervision, reflective practice and caseload management to work in an evidence-based manner and in a way that is sustainable for your own wellbeing.

CAMHS is a supportive, experienced and progressive multi-disciplinary team. We offer individual, family and group interventions which may be time limited or longer term therapies according to need. We have radically transformed in recent years including improved staff retention; fantastic team skill mix and opportunities for innovative practice. For example producing a series of professionally filmed videos to provide an online group and resources for young people experiencing emotional dysregulation. We also strive to provide compassionate leadership as we recognize the importance of staff well-being. You will receive regular clinical, peer and management supervision and access to continued professional development.

Job responsibilities

To provide a clinical psychology service to the specified Team/Service

To assess and treat a specialist workload of clients and maintain associated records

Participate in CPD and other developmental activities

Undertake R & D and clinical audit

Clinically supervise Assistant Psychologists, other professionals and trainee Clinical Psychologists

Person Specification


Qualification

* Doctoral clinical Psychology qualification or equivalent
* Maintenance of appropriate professional registration (HCPC)


Experience

* Post qualification of delivering evidence based therapies to young people and families in CAMHS
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and ability to contribute to team meetings and processes.
* Experience of providing specialist assessments/interventions eg Autism assessments (ADOS), Eating Disorders or specialist CBT


Skills

* Ability to work with children, young people and families from a wide range of social, cultural and minority ethnic backgrounds.
* Ability to work autonomously, and organise and prioritise workload
* .Experience of assessing and managing young people who are suicidal and young people who present a risk to self and others
* Experience of Clinical supervision/consultation - junior colleagues or other staff
