London
Black Lives in Musi
Professor
€100,000 - €125,000 a year

Offer description

Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2025 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global No. 1 institution for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held this world-leading place in Performing Arts for the three successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings this year.

To cope with growing demand and our increasingly global perspective, the Royal College of Music is seeking to engage a distinguished Harp professor to join its international team. We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:

* You should be a widely recognised and highly respected practitioner, either as a solo / orchestral performer or teacher.
* You will be teaching, to an exceptionally high level of technical and musical proficiency, students at undergraduate, postgraduate and, in some cases, doctoral level, so relevant teaching experience at this level is required.
* You should have a global perspective and significant international contacts.
* You should understand the particular demands of the music profession whilst striving to help each student reach the fullness of their own potential.

The Strings Faculty consists of a team of outstanding professors, many of whom combine careers as eminent performers and orchestral players with a passion and dedication for teaching. One-to-one lessons are at the very heart of every RCM student’s learning experience, and in addition to these our students enjoy scheduled performance and ensemble classes, regular chamber coaching, orchestral classes, and masterclasses with distinguished international musicians.

The College is committed to advancing equality and inclusive practice in all areas including staff and student recruitment, our teaching and artistic programme, research activity, and our working environment. We especially welcome female applicants and those from Black and ethnically diverse backgrounds who are currently underrepresented at this level within the College.

This post is offered on a permanent, part-time basis and is available from September 2025

For full details of this position please read the Applicant Information Pack, available to download from the RCM website: www.rcm.ac.uk/jobs

To apply, please complete our 1) Application form and 2) Equal Opportunities form (available to download from the RCM website) and submit in Word or PDF format by email to recruitment@rcm.ac.uk

CVs without an application form will not be accepted. Please ensure that you include the Job Reference Number when submitting your application.

The RCM is committed to nurturing diverse and inclusive environments for all staff and students to work and learn. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates from diverse backgrounds, including race, disability, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion and belief, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, and caring responsibility.
