Support registered staff in the implementation of an agreed plan of care with the patient Have good knowledge and understanding of the procedures undertaken within this setting Provide physical and emotional support to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures Chaperone patients while undergoing medical examinations and various procedures Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation level and blood glucose level) of patients, demonstrate an understanding of the normal range and report any abnormal recordings to nursing staff. Record early warning score and report any abnormal reading to nursing staff Following locally agreed competency-based tasks supported by training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge to undertake a limited range of delegated clinical care duties relevant to the services provided in line with local policies and procedures Removal of peripheral cannula Set up and assist nursing/medical staff in clinical procedure Participate in the Appraisal process Completion of local competency-based workbook and training Work collaboratively with colleagues with good clear communication both verbal, written and virtual, ability to listen to patients and visitors, demonstration of polite, professional, and courteous interaction in practice, for example taking messages, relaying of sensitive information, direct communication with patients whilst providing care Accurately record patient information Shows knowledge of the need for patient Confidentiality, Privacy, Dignity and Consent Be aware of personal responsibilities as defined in the Health & Safety at work Act Evidence of adaptability and flexibility Assist Endoscopist when taking biopsies and specimens and label appropriately To operate the equipment necessary for the decontamination of endoscopic equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, SOP and local policy Provide technical support to all members of the nursing team. Troubleshoot on equipment and accessories Report faults on endoscopes to co-ordinator; arrange return to supplier and request loan replacement. Complete relevant decontamination forms Always adhere to infection control measures.

Follow procedures for cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes and accessories at all times To handle hazardous chemicals daily according to COSHH guidelines and local policy Evidence of literacy, numeracy and IT skills. To act as patients, advocate during invasive procedures Participate in the management of stock, ensuring procedure rooms are restocked for use Assist nursing and clerical staff with administrative duties when required Ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard and in accordance with local policies, procedures and national guidelines
