Join to apply for the Plant Fitter role at Jarvie Plant Ltd. We’re looking for an experienced Plant Fitter to join our dynamic Plant Operations Division. In this hands-on, workshop-based role at our Nairn Depot (IV12 5QR), you’ll be instrumental in maintaining and servicing our extensive hire fleet, ensuring reliability and performance across a wide range of projects.
Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair faults on a wide range of heavy plant equipment, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, and generators
* Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and maintenance, ensuring all machines operate safely and efficiently
* Identify potential issues early, using mechanical knowledge to prevent downtime and reduce costly breakdowns
* Perform hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic fault-finding and repairs
* Complete accurate service reports and parts records, maintaining up-to-date documentation for all work carried out
* Work independently and as part of a team, responding quickly to breakdowns and supporting colleagues across the depot
* Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, ensuring safe working practices at all times
* Liaise with depot management and customers, providing clear updates on equipment status and repair timelines
* Maintain high workshop and machinery standards, ensuring tools and equipment are kept in good condition
* Represent Jarvie Plant professionally, contributing to high levels of customer satisfaction and service quality
Qualifications
* Relevant qualifications in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical engineering (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, HND)
* Strong knowledge of heavy plant systems and proven industry experience
* Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
* Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
* A customer-focused mindset and commitment to service excellence
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A proactive, safety-conscious approach in a busy operational setting
N.B. Applicants are expected to supply their own basic hand tools. Jarvie Plant will provide all necessary specialist tools, PPE, and branded workwear.
