You would be joining a well-regarded and supportive team of community paediatricians and advanced paediatric nurse practitioners. Bolton NHS Foundation Trust provides an integrated paediatric service across community and hospital services with excellent working relationships both within community services and with our acute hospital colleagues. Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is an equal opportunities employer and committed to family friendly policies.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide comprehensive community paediatric care, including the assessment and ongoing management of children with developmental delay, neurodisability and complex needs, delivering services through locality-based clinics wherever possible. The role includes clinical responsibility for children attending a designated special school, contributing to education, health and care planning, and participation in specialist epilepsy and multidisciplinary feeding clinics alongside nursing and therapy colleagues. The post holder will be actively involved in clinical governance, service improvement, teaching and training, and will maintain up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and practice. They will participate fully in appraisal, job planning, revalidation and continuing professional development, work in line with Trust policies and national guidance, and contribute to the Trust's major incident response as required.

About us

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust was established in 2008 and became an integrated provider in 2011 when community health services were incorporated. The Trust serves a catchment population of approximately 320,000 people across Bolton and parts of Bury, Wigan and Salford. Acute and community-based services are delivered primarily from the Royal Bolton Hospital in Farnworth, supported by 20 health centres across the borough.

The Royal Bolton Hospital plays a major role within Greater Manchester, particularly in women's and children's services, and is the busiest single ambulance-receiving hospital site in the region. As an NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton FT is accountable to its members and operates a Council of Governors that represents patients, the public, staff and partner organisations.

Community Children's Health Services are delivered by a multidisciplinary team comprising six Consultant Paediatricians, one Associate Specialist, one Specialist Doctor, one Resident Doctor, four Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), and two Epilepsy Specialist Nurses (working on a job-share basis). The clinical team is supported by a Business Manager and a dedicated administrative and clerical workforce.
