Career Opportunity – Carpentry and Joinery Lecturer
Contract: Fixed Term until 20 December 2025
Salary: £33,451 – £46,553 per annum
Location: Liverpool, United Kingdom
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver high‑quality teaching from Level 1 to Level 3, including evening programmes and industry‑relevant skill sets.
* Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with College assessment policies, ensuring sustainable and engaging learning experiences.
* Promote innovative curriculum development and support the organisation and delivery of the Carpentry & Joinery programme.
* Maintain a motivating learning environment, encouraging student autonomy and high standards of behaviour.
* Track student progress, attendance, and assessment outcomes using College systems.
* Collaborate with the Head of School and curriculum teams to design and improve teaching strategies and learning resources.
* Support additional English and Maths development for students where required.
* Preserve compliance with College policies and procedures, including anti‑discriminatory practices.
* Contribute to professional development, sharing best practice and participating in training opportunities.
* Engage with parents, carers, and students through events such as Parent’s Evening and Open Evening.
* Provide enrichment opportunities that enhance the student experience.
Essential Criteria
* Relevant professional qualification in carpentry & joinery.
* Industry experience in carpentry & joinery, with recent teaching and assessment exposure.
* Willingness to obtain or have an approved teaching qualification.
* In‑depth knowledge of the Carpentry & Joinery curriculum and industry standards.
* Evidence of curriculum planning, development, and delivery within a similar setting.
* Strong computer literacy and familiarity with learning technologies.
* Commitment to continual professional development.
* Basic level 2 literacy and numeracy, or will complete them.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to set and maintain high standards for students and colleagues.
Desirable Criteria
* Quality Assurance qualification (e.g., QCF, QAB).
* Experience of resource‑based learning or learning‑management systems.
* Additional ICT qualification or proficiency.
* Membership in a relevant professional body.
* Experience of planning curriculum to meet employer training needs.
* Understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes.
