Salary:
We are seeking a Principal Acoustic Engineer to join our federal team at our York, PA location. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in acoustics, responsible for designing, testing, and certifying JCNS products related to sound and vibration performance. The engineer will work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. This is an on-site position.

As a Principal Acoustic Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
* Reviewing customer requirements and specifications, communicating their impact to the engineering team.
* Adhering to JCNS Product Development Processes and relevant standards.
* Driving product development to meet acoustic requirements.
* Reviewing noise test data for compliance.
* Leading Navy qualification testing, troubleshooting acoustic issues, and maintaining hardware/software.
* Contributing to cost and schedule estimates.
* Presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
* Performing additional duties based on skills and interests.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in acoustics engineering, physics, or related field from an ABET-accredited school, or equivalent experience. An MS degree is preferred.
* At least 7 years of experience in acoustic design, testing, and evaluation.
* Ability to obtain and maintain active DoD security clearance; willingness to work in secured environments.
* Ability to travel within the U.S. less than 10% of the time.
* Experience with equipment setup, data analysis from microphones and accelerometers, signal processing, and measurements such as APS/FFT and octave-band.
Additional Qualifications:
* Understanding of sound and vibration physics.
* Knowledge of refrigeration cycles and noise sources in motors and compressors.
* Data analysis skills, proficiency with Excel, and scripting experience (MATLAB preferred).
* Capability to troubleshoot acoustic performance and perform modal testing.
* Familiarity with industry standards and technical communication skills.
* Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
Preferred Software Experience: PAK by Mueller BBM, MATLAB, Bently Nevada ADRE, ANSYS.
