We are seeking to recruit a Highway Structures Engineer - Asset Management Graded 11. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking the workload in the Structures Team within the Strategic Highways Group, as directed by the Structures & PROW Manager and assisted by the Structure’s Engineer - Assets. This includes the inspection of highways structures assets and assisting in the assessment and prioritisation of the capital works programme and the managing and coordination of the Structures inspection programme. WHAT IS INVOLVED? The duties of this role include, but aren’t limited to; To assist in identifying, assessing, and prioritising schemes for the Structures Capital programme. To assist in the development of a forward plan for the delivery of the structures’ inspection and maintenance programmes. Liaison with the Structures Engineer-Assets for the identification of schemes, as appropriate. Preparation of design briefs for structures schemes. Input Inspection data into the asset management database to inform strategic planning. Liaise with Public utility companies to agree third party work on or adjacent to highway structures Liaise with various bodies to ensure that development sites where structures are involved are built to the correct specification and relevant checks have been completed. Schedule and undertake the annual inspections programme. (Principal Inspections to be undertaken by external Consultants) Ensure that links are maintained with Highway Services for the delivery of the inspection and maintenance programmes. To represent the Structures Manager as appropriate at various meetings, working parties, panels etc as directed. To support/assist staff within the Team and Strategic Highways as a whole. To assist the Structures Manager in organising and managing the activities of the team to ensure that the maximum efficient and effective use is made of the resources available. To allocate work to junior members of staff including monitoring and checking of their work. To assist in the monitoring of budgets.
