Offer description

We are looking for a Phlebotomist to join our friendly practice on a permanent basis. You will work as part of the Castleton Health Centre Clinical Team- made up of five GP partners, two Salaried GPs, two Advanced Clinical Practitioners, three Practice Nurses, one Nursing Associate, one Health Care Assistant and Admin Staff. We are a medical training practice, you will also work alongside Registrars, FY2 Doctors.


Main duties of the job

Your Main role as a Phlebotomist will be to provide a patient friendly service

Phlebotomist will be expected to provide a helpful and professional service to patients and healthcare staff.

We are looking for individuals with the skill and flexibility to support our services within Phlebotomy.

The individual will be responsible for ensuring that the blood specimens are taken in a manner that does not cause undue anxiety to the patient and that laboratories are provided with timely, high quality blood specimens taken in tubes that are appropriate for the tests requested.

Phlebotomy Experience is essential

* A knowledge of the importance and relevance of phlebotomy in the deliverance of patient care Skills & Ability Essential Desirable

* Basic IT skills
* Competent, professional and polite manner
* Ability to work systematically and under pressure in a busy environment
* Ability to work with attention to detail
* Degree of manual dexterity required
* Good organisational skills
* Able to convey a calm, caring and sensitive attitude to patients and their carers
* Ability to work individually or effectively as part of a team
* Ability to follow set procedures and protocols meticulously
* Ability to concentrate for long periods
* Ability to cope with routine task
* Able to use initiative and act with minimal supervision in accordance with protocols
* Willingness to work flexibly to maintain phlebotomy service


Person Specification


Experience

* * Phlebotomy experience (certificated course)
* * Experience of working within a nursing team
* * Experience working within Primary Care
